The Atascadero Unified School District budget has gotten tighter and
tighter these last few years and the CAPS grants have become more and more important in the education of our children. Over
the last 5 years, CAPS has been able to give nearly $340,000 to AUSD teachers to fill the grant requests that they have written.
Since
its inception, CAPS has held six fundraisers. We are proud to announce that CAPS received the “Organization of the Year”
award by the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce in 2012. CAPS also received the 2012 Gold Award from the California Teachers
Association.
CAPS is totally a volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, retired teachers and community
members. We are a non profit organization. Our sponsors range from a member of the board of supervisors to local businesses
and service organizations.
We are looking for CAPS volunteers! CAPS
needs volunteers as it prepares for the 7th annual Evening for Education! The planning committee meets monthly
and is in need of individuals with a commitment to their children’s education to become CAPS volunteers. We need
members to help with big jobs and little jobs; seeking live and silent auction items, set-up or clean-up the day of the event,
processing and organizing the auction items, stuffing invitations, picking up auction or event items, producing the catalog,
maintaining the web site, doing graphic arts and advertising, decorating auction baskets and so much more. This will enable
all of us to guarantee the success of CAPS yet again at our gala event on Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at the Taft Barn. If you can help, or have questions regarding general volunteer
